OriGinal¿

OriGinal¿ was born Richard Christopher Edmond in Los Angeles California October 24th. To a a black Christain man, his father, and his white, jewish mother. As if this wasnt already a set up for racial opness when he was 1 he moved to Pacoima, a lower middle class prodominately latino nieghborhood in The San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles. Growing up it never occured to him that he was any different then the kids at the park or at school. Already opened to a Christian, confined life style and a reformed, jewish, liberal point of view, not to mention the mostly catholic hispanic world he saw everyday its no wonder why he grew up confused, and yet opinionated. With almost no definate sence of truth untill he was old enough to make his won decisions he constantly lied whenever it seemed it would get him out fo trouble, which he was in alot.

His early partners in crime were James who he later nic-named AJ) Zach (who you all know as Doe Boi), and later, Manny. From putting magnets to computers to sneaking POkemon cards to school and even going to the point of accidentally ignighting a tree. Obviously they had a lot of time on there hands but by the summer of 1998 it was just "Aj" and Richard (now going by RC), to find something to do at the junk yeard/church/afterschool center where they spent alot of time. This is when he saw artists like Coolio and Snoop Dogg. He would see the studio eqiupment and wanted to become what he knows today as a music producer. He dreamed of being a pop duo with Aj and be RC & AJ where he would produce and AJ would sing. So he got his toy piano and they would play "gigs" for the kids at school and make up songs that sounded similiar to the songs of the time such as "Dont Go Chasing AJ boy" (based on "Dont go Chasing Waterfalls by TLC") but like any other thing young hildren like, it fased out...

Years later at a day camp on haskell (a local street in pacoima) he learned to crip walk and freestyle rap by listening to another boy there named Evan whos older brother was a gang banger. And after a constant routine of freestylin and mimking the ways of "Lil Bow Wow" he generated een more of a love for music, behond the Snoop Dogg and Spice Girls tapes he occasioanlly listen to.

It wasnt untill sixth grade where he looked back in musics direction. Here he would play complex beats with his knuckles and pens and anything he could get his hands on with his close freind, and younger step brother of Snoop Dogg himself, Kalvin. He wanted to make a mix CD of everyone in the school who could rap and try to sell it o a comany, which eventually turned into a group with his freinds Leon, and Colin (now the producer/rapper Charlie black) and himself. This is when they talked to a manager with there school yard hit, "School Rap". Also he was in his schools Drum line/ percusion ensemble playing the Vibraphone.

In seventh grade, a new boy switched into his homeroom who after a year of disconent he realized was his childhood homeboy Zach. They started to do alot more together, go to partys football games, and the mall around birthdays. But they were aslo occasionally spitting reestyles over Kalvin's beat boxing. Soon they began writing and battleing local emcees or anyone who dared chalenge them. OriGinal only lost twice but still claims not to be a freestyler. After wrtitng and touching up on there lyrics, personal styles and priorities OG dropped out of drumline and began being serious working on music, and one day at home gazing at his cottage cheese, dirty yellow white ceiling with his feet hanging off his childhood bed, he realized this is what God made him to do. After watching the specials and seeing how things are he realized how bad the worlds are,a dn he loved music so, it must mean this is what hes here to do. Freshman year they sold drugs to save up for studio but of coarse spent it on other things. They recorded on a tape recorder and OriGinals computer beats. Which cought the eye of record comapnys and now.....

The hood....

Alot of people would argue that i have no knoledge of what the black ghetto is like, and for the most part there right. Im from Pacoima and Canoga, shoot, thats the vario. I could tell u all about guys sellin corn on the corner and essays shootin you because you dissed there hoods but as for The City of Los Angeles yall are used to hearin about,,shoot man all i know is what i see when i visit. I remeber hearin the gun shots at night and the prostitutes, flashers, rapists and crack heads that id either see up close or hear about on school anouncements. Was it a safe place to raise kids? Shoot no safer or more dangerous than any other ghetto, like my Dad says "Criminals got cars".
